Mini-Sessions
For the time limited, budget conscious, need-the-holiday-card-photos-now family.
What is a Mini-Session?
A Mini-Session is an abbreviated version of my regular family photography session. Mini-Sessions allow us to capture great portraits of your whole family, some of each family member in a your authentic selves, in less than half the time and price of a full family portrait session.
These 20-30 minute sessions are perfect for families who are strapped on time, and need just a handful of photos for a holiday card, to share on social media, or to print, frame and hang on a wall. We do this in one location, move quickly, and are quick and they are an efficient way to capture a moment in time.
Overview of what's included:
- Everyone in your family (no matter what size it is)
- Up to 30 minute of photography
- Post session selection and editing
- Published minimum of 25 photos to a private online gallery for proofing, sharing, ordering of digital images, prints, framed prints, etc.
How many images will we see from the mini-session?
Typically, 25+ fully edited images will be available in the online gallery to proof. From there, you can order/download hi-resolution digital images a la carte, or as a package of the whole gallery. You can also order prints, framed prints, and other products directly from your session gallery.
How many family members can we have for a mini-session?
As many as are in your family. Parents are family, of course. Friends you consider family? Great. Pets? Yes. Keep in mind, a 30 minute session is not much time, so the more subjects to capture, the less control we will have over the style, outcome, and quantity, and the more we'll just capture the family interactions on-the-fly.
What should we wear?
Clothing certainly reflects individual style, and ideally it's in a way that complements skin tones, eye color and hair without being visually 'loud'. Keeping it simple allows the focus to be on each individual. I recommend subtle patters or solid colors. Different colors works fine, if they are complementary both within each person's outfit as well as with the group. Most importantly, everyone should feel good in what s/he is wearing. Confidence will shine through in your photographs. Here are some ideas: seanmalone.com/what-to-wear.
One of my kids can be shy/stubborn at times, what can you do?
I will try to establish some rapport early in the session. I’ve found I can often get kids (and adults) out of their 'shell', or work around the issue by distraction or by engaging in their interests. Sometimes silly games can work too. Letting kids run around for a few minutes to get out nervous energy can work wonders, and I can capture some great shots that way as well. If your Mini-Session is kids only, I will often encourage parents to go on a little walk, enjoy the break while I work with the kids. I find they can sometimes be more relaxed or engaged without parents.
Would you feature my family photographs on your blog or website?
I may use photographs of your family for marketing purposes only. However, I will always respect your privacy so if you prefer that I do not, please let me know.
